I've noticed a few pleas for a Drupal t-shirt for the upcoming LinuxTag conference. I came up with these designs this morning. Not in German, though. :(

With the leaflet/poster/tshirt discussions going on, Druplicon has come up. A while ago I made a 3D Druplicon. IMO it has better proportions and looks more interesting than the flat one (as well as looking less like Napster, the common criticism in the beginning).
As a designer-person, what's your opinion?

(PS: Darn, your theme looks sexy... ;)

That's a cool looking variation. It doesn't scale down very well below about 30px square. I've never been too fond of the druplicon really. I've said before that it looks too geeky. It reminds me of the alien head images. It just isn't a very professional or serious looking image. I never liked Napster's image either. It's got that same skater/teen/crappy beach tshirt mojo going for it, which is OK, but I think Drupal should present a much more varied and serious image.

You're always welcome to suggest replacements: Kristjan seems quite unhappy about it as well.
I don't really see the point of 'more serious' though: the Druplicon IMO is fresh and recognisable. Compared to other logos in the CMS area I think it's one the better ones. I realize serious is not the same thing as stale/boring, but it does seem that way most of the time :P.

By the way, do you think scaling down to below 30px is important? It's really a tradeoff between details then.
These days you can usually use a bit more than 30px comfortably, and in print, resolution is a non-issue normally. Extreme small things like favicons are always going to be trouble anyhow.
By the way, here are some other CMS logos:

Compared to these, I think the druplicon (especially the 3D one) is going to stick around in people's heads more. It's a bit of an avatar for the project.

Maybe I could try. I'm not a graphic designer, and I don't try to do logo design at all, so anything I come up with may not be much better than what we have. I will think about it.

Wow, I like your design which has forms of neat and pleasing simplicity.
Which software do you use to do this? CorelDraw or Illustrator?
