XML

Trivial. I love and hate that programmer's word. But it seems the appropriate one to use here.

I thought that since XSL FO can be used to transform XML into PDF, then surely there must be a way to easily tranform into RTF without getting into directly creating RTF. No such luck. Hell, doing FO PDF transformations doesn't seem too easy either. Problem is that FO processors are in their infancy. The processor that we would probably consider is FOP for Apache. But this still only gets you PDF.

I'm still looking for a method to transform XML to RTF non-trivially. Will come back with anything I find.

Ken Coar's blogroll.php is a PHP script to convert OPML files into HTML blogrolls.

XHTML Friends Network.

Scott's roogle application is nice. It's a search engine for finding nodes in rss feeds.

Biting the bullet and installing SVG viewer.

I've used Magpie in the past to get my home page to show recent stuff on my various sites.

this is a good idea. get rss headlines via email from an aggregator.

Matt's interconnected blog really rocks. Today he posted a great discussion about using RDF to create semantic links between blogs, but applies to all web sites in general. This is becoming more interesting to me and I'm starting to read up a little more on practical implications for using DC elements to describe pages and using RDF to create linkage. There's a lot of potential there that's waiting for killer applications and proofs of concept. MT's trackback is a good POC for weblogging linkage, but some day we're going to see real powerful applications like blogdex that will aggregate RDF feeds and churn out better clusters based on descriptive elements like subject heading. Hell, would be nice to just churn out clusters based on person's name!

Going to start playing with Amazon's XML interface for Amazon Associates using this Perl application called amazox. Amazox makes a call to Amazon Associates XML interface, displaying the results in a table, suitable for inclusion in a Web page. Very cool.
